Craft revival pioneer Rupert Smith has spent the last several years working with the villagers of Gabu in the Wangden valley reviving authentic vegetable-based dying methods and a near forgotten weaving technique in a region famed for its rugs and where this craft - the oldest knotted pile technique in Tibet was developed over hundreds if not thousands of years.

The results of Rupert's efforts are now available via the internet. Please browse this site for an intimate insight into this beautiful craft and the people of the Wangden Valley.
